Students rock at Lugogo

Rarely do we get to see P-Diddy, Ja-rule, Snoop Dogg, Beyonce and 50 Cent share the same stage let alone the same area code.

Rarely do we get to see P-Diddy, Ja-rule, Snoop Dogg, Beyonce and 50 Cent share the same stage let alone the same area code.

At the GTZ Pevot and Hot 100 FM sponsored Leavers Rock Party on Saturday, Senior Four and Senior Six vacists turned Lugogo Indoor Stadium into a Los Angeles of sorts.

We were only lucky they relived Los Angeles during daytime. The show that started at 10:00am, wound at 8:00pm. Moreso, finding a trace of alcohol at the place was as rare as locating a fridge among the Eskimos.

And when you imagined this lot would spare time to discuss the recent exam leakages that marred their lot, they spent the day showcasing just how far they had imitated their foreign music video idols.

Where the guys weren’t imitating their rap idols in dress and accent; the girls, many dressed like they were auditioning for an R-Kelly music video, strutted like they wore diamonds at the soles of their feet.

This wasn’t a place for sugar daddies. The tender tots have since mastered a unique form of slang only they understand.
Little surprises, the Blu*3, Bebe Cool, Peter Miles and Tool Man appealed to this lot. The students idolise them. It was only unfortunate, much anticipated Tanzanian rapper AY a no show.

A rap competition saw the students demonstrate just how much they can imitate foreign artistes. 50 cent and Mario were the most imitated artistes albeit to no perfection.
