FIGHT fans gasped in surprise as little known Mohammed Kabogoza knocked out national star Phillip Adyak in the Seniors Boxing Championship semi-finals yesterday.
Adyak, eager to silence the flashy Kabogoza who had stolen the hearts of many, rushed into a right uppercut that sent him flat at Lugogo.
The UPDF fighter, who couldn’t hold back tears after the upset, got a taste of what he served Mengo’s Joseph Kagame Monday.
The knockout was yet another fruit of the efforts of ex-international Hussein Khalil who recently established the Naguru East Coast club.
Flyweight defending champion Martin Mubiru was stretched to the limit by Sula Katumba in a five round thriller.
But the split points decision did not go down well with UPDF who felt that victory should have been for their fighter Katumba. Semi-finals end today and the finals are on Sunday after the UABF assembly.
