THIRTY-FIVE children from poor families had a sumptuous meal and recreational activities at the Mbale Resort Hotel on Friday.

The children, aged between 8-12 years, were picked from Busamaga, a village over-looking the hotel, and given a three-course meal. They were also taught how to swim.

“Most of them would sneak through the river that flows across the hotel to watch the events from the riverbank,” said Lawrence Kinyua, the hotel manager.

He said the idea was mooted by the Jehovah’s Witnesses, who ran a centre in Busamaga.

“They requested to sponsor the disadvantaged to come and learn how to swim,” he said.
