Linda Ochieng, a daughter of the late Daudi Ochieng, a long-time friend of Sir Edward Mutesa II, has asked the central government to give Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II more powers.

“The Kabaka should be given more powers so that he can lead his subjects with enough power. It’s good the government restored the kabakaship but it is useless when the Kabaka does not have enough power,” Ochieng said while touring Kasubi royal tombs on Monday.

Ochieng, who stays in Nairobi, Kenya, was accompanied by her mother, Emma Namuli Ochieng.

She said she visited the royal tombs to pay respect to the late Sir Edward Mutesa II and to trace her roots as a Ugandan who is interested in the cultural background of the Baganda, who treated her father so well.

“I have come here to visit this place because I am told my father and mother were Buganda’s friends and Mutesa’s in particular,” Linda said.

Daudi Ochieng was once an MP on the Kabaka Yekka ticket, a Mengo political party.

Ochieng, who met Mutesa at Buddo junior school at the age of five, grew up with Mutesa in Mengo palace.
