Mvara Secondary School in Arua district produced the five best students in Sciences in last years UACE to salvage its past glory, reports Frank Mugabi.
The students include: Geoffrey Arumadri, who scored 5ABBC, Richard Obeti ACCC, Jonathan Anguyo ABC, Gerald Asiku ACC and Drate Akuba 6BEEC.
The headmaster, Aggrey Izio Tata said it took a great task in administration, teaching tactics and improvement of the laboratory to make a “come back” that is being enjoyed today.
“Regular practical lessons have improved science performance in the school and the teachers have also learnt how to handle students,” Izio said.

But to many, Mvara’s good performance would be taken for success because they had been getting one or two students among the best science students but still regarded it a plunge.
Izio said the school is fairly old. It was started in 1961 with a well-equipped laboratory and the oldest in the district.
However, due to wars in the 1970s, the infrastructure was destroyed and now the school is still struggling to reconstruct it.
