THE 10 Nile River basin states are to benefit from better access to information to effectively tap the development potential of the river, the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said recently.

Steven Candia
reports that this will take place under a new project to improve water management in the region.

“Nile waters bear tremendous potential as a lever for social and economic development, but the inability to jointly plan water development, equitable sharing of benefits and attracting investment has delayed the use of this resource,” FAO chief of water resources Pasquale Steduto said in a statement recently.
