THE Government intends to recruit 1,000 teachers for secondary schools, the higher education state minister, Simon Mayende, has said.

THE Government intends to recruit 1,000 teachers for secondary schools, the higher education state minister, Simon Mayende, has said.
He was on Friday speaking at the sixth graduation ceremony of Makerere Business Institute (MBI), where he represented Prime Minister Prof. Apolo Nsibambi.
Mayende said 700 of the teachers would be for science subjects.
A total of 460 students including 267 females received diplomas in secretarial studies, accountancy, business administration, catering, banking and finance, forwarding and clearing, stores management and purchasing. Only two graduates received certificates in catering.
Students from Tanzania, Sudan and Liberia were among the graduands.
