FRENCHAmbassador Jean-Bernard Thiant and wife Arlette, will be missed when he leaves in mid-April.

It was obvious on Thursday evening when the envoy was giving his farewell message at his residence that he has a special place in the hearts of many Ugandans and diplomats.

“Uganda is a country blessed by God,” he said. “Her beautiful scenery, marvelous climate, a captivating people and an enormous potential are all testimonies to this.”

He added, “Arlette and I are so attached to Uganda and we hope to come back one day.

Allow me to say on your behalf, a few words of thanks to Arlette, whose smiles, elegance and culinary expertise illuminated our evenings. I hope you will keep in memory an ambassador proud of tri-colour flag and always ready to listen to the French community and of an ambassador’s wife, who represented French elegance.”
