A seventy-year-old man with four wives shocked villagers in Lyantonde, Rakai district, when he speared one of his wives to death and later committed suicide.Â
Ssalongo Dauda Luutu of Kabetemere in lyantonde, Kabula county, on   Wednesday night killed Nalongo Hadija Kiconco, 40, after suspecting her of having an affair with another man.
The CID chief at Lyantonde police station, Detective Opendi, said after killing his wife, Luutu sneaked out of the house and took poison and died later. His body was recovered a few metres away from the home, with a bottle of poison and a knife besides it.
Luutu’s three other wives, Aziida Namuleme, 54, Ramulatu Nakate, 40 and Saada alias Mama Aziida wondered why their husband did not involve them in settling the matter.
Kiconco’s daughter, Joelia Babirye, said her father had refused her mother from working at Kasenyi in Kasese district where she was dealing in fish, which she sold in the DR Congo.
Babirye said her mother returned from Kasese on March 25 and Luutu refused her to return, sparking off a big row at home.
