The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has named Samia Bugwe North MP Aggrey Awori as one of the people who confirmed the existence of Ugandan soldiers captured in the Congo for attempting to overthrow the Kinshasa government.

The DRC, which is accusing Uganda of invasion and plunder, told the International Court of Justice in The Hague, that Uganda’s intention was to overthrow president Laurent Kabila.

Congo foreign minister Maitre Shibangu Kalala said a UPDF soldier identified as Salim Byaruh-anga was captured and Awori went to Kinshasa and interviewed him in jail. The UPDF has, however, maintained that it does not have Byaruh-anga in its records and that it went to the DRC in self-defence.
