THE Uganda Joint Christian Council (UJCC) has criticised the Domestic Relations Bill (DRB) and urged MPs not to pass it.
Lugazi diocese Bishop Matthias Ssekamanya said this on Sunday during prayers for Pope Benedict XVI at St. Paul Catholic Church, mukono.
The vicar-general of the diocese, Msgr. Ziwa Kayondo, advised Catholics to pray for the new pope to carry on evangelical work.
“UJCC was vital in the proposed DRB but we were not consulted at all. The input in the bill is not binding on religious matters,” he said.
Ssekamanya said UJCC did not get a copy of the Bill but heard of it in Parliament.
Recently, Muslims took to the streets, protesting some clauses in the Bill.
Present was DP president general Paul Ssemogerere.
