GULU resident district commissioner (RDC) Max Omeda has appealed to countries in the Great lakes region to respect each other’s borders to avoid conflict.

“I appeal to all countries in the Great lakes region to take a leaf from the Tanzanians, who have resolved to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of their country,” he said.

Omeda was opening a border security consultation meeting organised by the ministry of foreign affairs for the RDCs, LC5s, youth and women representatives from Lango, Acholi and West Nile at Hotel kakanyero in Gulu on Monday.

He said, “I believe this meeting will broaden our capacity in handling matters concerning trade, peace, security, influx of refugees, humanitarian issues, border disputes and other issues that affect our relations at the borders.”
