THE launch of a national referendum committee to campaign for the return to multiparty politics in southwestern Uganda turned chaotic when opposition politicians accused Movement officials of hijacking the function.
Movement vice-chairman Moses Kigongo was the chief guest at the function held at independence Park in Mbarara on Wednesday.
The function was organised by the Patriotic national movement support committee, a group calling for the return to multiparty politics in Ntungamo, Bushenyi and Mbarara districts.
Disagreement began when the public address system was switched off as Robert ndyomugyenyi, the chairman of the Reform Party, began talking. ndyomugyenyi accused Movement officials of ‘being bad mannered’ and hijacking a referendum function.
