RICHARD Okia produced an electric batting display as Africa Cricket Club (ACC) stunned fancied Tornado B by a five wicket defeat at Lugogo oval.

The game was one of four Castle Lager league matches played on Sunday.

ACC, languishing at 36 for five with a target of 246, Okia came to the crease and won the game for Africa, unbeaten on 140 off 113 balls. His flawless bat contributed 14 fours and eight sixes, including 29 runs from one of Fred Isabirye’s one over.

Okia was ably assisted by Ivan Thawithemwira (65*) as the table leaders won for the fifth time.

After a disappointing show at the World Cup qualifiers in Ireland, Joel Olweny also turned guns to the local scene, hitting 179 as champions Tornado beat Wanderers by 155 runs at Kyambogo.

At Nakawa, Dan Batwala’s 85* was not enough to save JACC as the Jinja side succumbed to a two-wicket loss at the hands of Patidar.
In Entebbe, Noel Nsubuga’s 41 helped Nile beat Castle XI.
