THE fact that Edrine Namirembe was caught in the act of adultery did not imply that she detested her husband, as the Kalisizo Grade One Court heard on Thursday.
Namirembe testified against her lover with whom she had a long-term affair before her husband caught them red-handed.
Namirembe, of Lulara zone in Kawunguli parish, Kifamba sub-county in Rakai district, told magistrate Florence Nakayiga that Sulaiman Kafeero had been her lover for four months.
She said her husband Lazaalo Senkubuge found them in a coffee plantation, which prompted him to hack Kafeero several times.
Namirembe said, “At about 10:00pm on April 26, my husband found me sleeping with Kafeero in a coffee plantation when we were making love and hacked him on the back and the arm.”
She told the fully-packed and silent court that she managed to escape unhurt because her husband’s attention was on Kafeero.
She caused laughter when she said she did not have nickers when they were making love and that she just pulled her clothes up to the head and lay on them.
“Your honour, when Kafeero came at my home, he sent one of my children to call me and since I had just finished bathing, I went out without putting on my nickers to the coffee plantation where we used to meet,” she said.
Namirembe, who pleaded guilty to adultery, said Kafeero could not deny since he had the wounds to prove it.
Kafeero escaped as Senkubuge turned to look for Namirembe.
Senkubuge has accepted Namirembe back after court reconciled them.
Kafeero will reappear in court on July 26.
