BUSHENYI – The number of LDCs has shot up to 49 from 25 in 1971, investment state minister, Prof. Semakula Kiwanuka, has said. “There are 49 countries branded as LDCs, up from the 25 when they were last categorised in 1971. Unfortunately, Uganda is one them,” he said at the Bushenyi Investment Forum recently.

Coffee berry
NAIROBI – Kenyan coffee officials said on Thursday the threat of coffee berry disease (CBD) on the crop in the main coffee growing areas of central Kenya was insignificant despite worries expressed by some industry players. Prolonged cold and wet weather has raised fears about the disease.

PSFU gets
NAKASERO – The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) has received a grant of euro 60,000 (sh ) from Germany. The money will be used to develop local private businesses, Robert Kyukyu, the scheme manager of Business Uganda Development Scheme-Enterprise Development Support, said recently.
