A total of 222 workers in Kibaale district have been laid off in the ongoing restructuring exercise.
The chief administrative officer, Andrew Mawejje, said on Friday the district retired 71 permanent staff, laid off 50 non-pensionable staff, sacked one and re-deployed 22 others. Mawejje also ordered road overseers to return the district motorcycles.

Fort Portal High court judge Rugadya Atwooki has sentenced a porter to eight years in jail for defiling a nine-year-old girl.
Apollo Byensi of Nyabikyere village, Isunga parish in Kabarole district defiled the girl on May 5 this year.
