IT was the nature of the race and its slow speed that denied Boniface Kiprop a chance to win his first senior medal.

“The race was slow. It really disorganised me. I tried to go ahead but I could not do it alone,” said Kiprop, who is determined to try and pull one back in the 5000m tomorrow.

“If Moses (Kipsiro) and Wilson (Busienei) make it (to the finals), then we will have a team and we can do the planning together. We will have to set the pace and anything can happen,” said the 20-year-old who finished fourth at last year’s Olympics as well.
