KAMPALA — Mayor John Ssebaana Kizito’s case against a businessman of stealing his island in Lake Victoria floped yesterday when the lands commissioner failed to show up in court. Ssebaana took businessman F.X Bitamazire to court, saying he trespassed on his Namalusu island near Gaba, erecting there a hotel. The lands commissioner had been summoned to clear the air on two land titles to the island, one issued to Ssebaana and another to Bitamazire.

KAMPALA — Property Masters chief Patrick Kasulu (below) has made a year on remand at Luzira Prison, his lawyer McDusman Kabega said yesterday while applying for his release on bail. Kabega told Justice Caroline Okello that his client had also completed the 120 days mandatory period since the last charge was brought against him.

KAMPALA — Investigators who flew the cockpit recorder and flight data systems (black boxes) of the presidential Mi-172 helicopter in which Sudan’s First Vice-President Dr. John Garang and 12 other people perished on July 30 to Moscow for analysis returned yesterday and briefed President Yoweri Museveni on their findings. Works minister John Nasasira said, “We are finalising with decoding and transcribing findings and a few other things. We shall make them public as soon as we are ready. I will call a press conference.”
