THE Kakungulu Cup quarterfinal match between Masaka LC and Gulu Black Rangers that was due yesterday failed to kick off after the northern Uganda side said they thought they were disqualified from both the league and the cup competitions, reports Swalley Kenyi.

Rangers were disqualified from the City Tyres League when they failed to honour fixtures with Kakira, Lugazi and Kinyara.

Their coach Peter Onen said on Thursday that his team was dissolved as soon as the club was disqualified.

“I thought since they disqualified us from the Super League we were not going to compete in Kakungulu Cup also. My team has not been training since then,” Onen said.

League committee’s Aisha Nalule said Gulu was only disqualified from the league. Their action allows Masaka a walkover.
