Which is which?

SIR — My attention has been drawn to the list of 86 students from St. Peter’s College Naalya admitted to public universities. My concern is the anomaly in the list of names.

SIR — My attention has been drawn to the list of 86 students from St. Peter’s College Naalya admitted to public universities. My concern is the anomaly in the list of names.

For example, Caroline Nantaro’s name appears twice in the Makerere University list. Names of students like Constance Osoru, Caroline Nantaro, Arthur Nuwagaba, Diana Cuma, Peter Otolim, Pius Ahebwa, Paskazia Nasuwa and Lawrence Echabu appear in the lists of both Makerere and Kyambogo. I thought the public universities conducted joint admissions and therefore such a thing would not happen.

One cannot be admitted in two public universities, especially if government-sponsored in the same academic year.

If this was a public relations gimmick by St. Peter’s, then it is wrong. If it was a mistake by the Joint Admissions Board, it means other candidates might have been denied opportunities!
