FLOWER farmers have a reason to smile after Uganda Flowers Exporters Association (UFEA) has secured a market in the Middle East.

By Joshua Lubandi FLOWER farmers have a reason to smile after Uganda Flowers Exporters Association (UFEA) has secured a market in the Middle East.

Keith Henderson, UFEA’s executive director, said the flower growers will start exporting to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Far East and eastern Europe next month.

“Ugandan growers will not only sell flowers in the UAE because by using Dubai as a hub, they will re-export to eastern Europe, the Far East, and the US,” he said.

“The growers are looking at new markets to avoid dependence on one market in Holland, which can be over supplied, leading to lower prices,” Henderson said.

He said the flower growers are organising trial flower shipments to Dubai, where the people have shown a lot of interest.
