THE Inspector General of Government (IGG) has accused Luweero District Administration of recruiting people with a criminal record into the local administration Police and prisons, reports Frederick Kiwanuka.

In a letter recently, Faith Mwondha urged district authorities to revisit the recruitment of 14 officers who were recruited into the prisons and local administration departments without following the proper procedures.

Mwondha’s letter follows complaints that several civilians, some with criminal records, were recruited into the Police and prisons without relevant training.

The officers, mainly former sub-county chiefs, have been recruited as in-charges of prisons and local administration units, in various parts of the district.
