THREE people were murdered by armed thugs in the city over the weekend.

They included Moses Kabali, 22 of Jinja Kaloli in Kawempe Zone B, who was shot on Sunday by two pistol-wielding thugs after they picked a quarrel with him at Lions Bar in Kawempe.

Michael Muhwezi, a Makerere University Business School student was shot dead in Mengo, near Ring Road, by two thugs armed with an SMG rifle and a yet-to-be-identified male adult whose bullet-riddled body was found at Namasuba on the Kampala-Entebbe road.

Kampala Extra Region CID chief George Kanonko yesterday described the murders as unfortunate and acts of “thugs on the loose.”

He said the Police were investigating the murders.

He said Kabali, who was shot in the shoulder, managed to walk up to home, a short distance from the bar, where he died.

“The thugs trailed Muhwezi from his petrol station at Mengo Hill. They demanded for money but he refused and ran, prompting the assailants to shoot him in the back, killing him instantly,” said Kanonko, adding that the thugs did not take anything.

The third murder was committed adjacent to Groves Bar in Namasuba.
