THE new FUFA executive is facing demands of salary arrears for over eight months from the employees at FUFA House.

The staff of 13 includes two administrative secretaries, their assistants, and accountants, who have been laid off.

The FUFA normalisation committee had asked FIFA to pay the workers directly from the $250,000 annual FIFA grant given to develop the game, but that has not happened for eight months. The new CEO will also be paid through the same arrangement.

The money was expected to be brought in the country by FIFA regional development officer Ashford Mamelodi, who travelled to Kampala to witness Saturday’s elective assembly, but was not.

Mamelodi indicated that he had got word instead that FUFA would clear the workers pay themselves.

When contacted for comment, former head of the finance committee John Mutenda confirmed they had paid the workers from June to August, leaving out arrears and the last three months.

“We had suggested that Mamelodi comes with the money. Its good that we will be handing over soon,” said Mutenda.

The FUFA normalisation committee, headed by Dr James Sekajugo, will hand over to the Lawrence Mulindwa executive tomorrow, and the worker’s arrears will be discussed.
