THe Prime Minister, Prof. Apolo Nsibambi, has asked scholars to positively take part in the transition from the Movement political system to multi-partism, reports Joyce Namutebi.

Nsibambi (right), who is the Chancellor of Makerere University, welcomed the move by the National Council of Higher Education to close some private universities.
He was closing the Makerere University Stakeholders’ Consultative meeting on Thursday.

Nsibambi addressed development partners, lecturers, students and representatives of organisations on the challenges and opportunities of the university and tertiary institutions in the country.
The vice-chancellor, Prof. John Sebuwufu, said this was the second consultative meeting. The first was held in 1987 mainly with donors.
