SDA appeal
KAMPALA — Makerere University Seventh Day Adventist students on Wednesday appealed to the Supreme Court to reconsider a petition they lost last year. Three students petitioned on behalf of about 150 others. They accused the university of infringing on their constitutional rights by scheduling lectures, tests, and examinations on Saturday, which contravened their faith.

Thugs rob Brittania
LIRA — Three unidentified thugs recently robbed a Brittania distribution point of sh15m. The district police commander, Geoffrey Aropet, said in an interview that the thugs disguised themselves as customers and carried out an armed robbery. No arrests have been made.

UCRS staff arrested
LIRA — The Police on Thursday arrested five volunteer workers of Uganda Red Cross Society suspected of stealing relief items from the society’s store meant for internally displaced persons in camps. CID chief Charles Erechu said the suspects broke into the store on Sunday.
