UGANDA is leading in organic farming with 122,000 out of 235,000 hectares of arable land in Africa.
Agriculture, animal industry and fisheries minister, Dr. Kisamba Mugerwa (right), said the Government set up a body to consult all stakeholders on the policies of organic farming.
He said this would ensure proper management practices.
kisamba was attending a workshop organised by Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE) and National Organic Movement (NOGUM) on Monday in Kampala.
He said challenges like poor climatic conditions led to high levels of pests and diseases.
kisamba urged farmers to use resistant species.
