PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has said the Government expects to collect sh1800b in taxes during the next financial year.
Museveni said this while meeting striking lecturers of Makerere University at the International Conference Centre on Tuesday.
He said taxes collected had gradually increased from sh2.84b in 1985 to sh1600b in 2003.
He said the wage bill for all public servants constituted sh670b of the money received by the Government, which is divided among all public servants.
Museveni appealed to the lecturers to end the strike saying Uganda was fragile and strikes were costly to the Government.
