UGANDA Amateur Boxing Federation has in a U-turn decided to apologise to sponsor Michael Ezra over the conflicts about the Olympic bound team.

The cash-strapped body has agreed to bury any differences it had with the financier of its Athens Olympic program- the Ezra Boxing Board. The decision was unanimously reached during the federation general assembly at Lugogo on Saturday.

In effect UABF secretary Sande Musoke was given express instructions to write to EBB patron Michael Ezra expressing appreciation for his support.
Musoke had prior to the assembly led a group that showed discontent about their relationship with EBB.

Besides challenging the composition of the boxing team that recently travelled to a qualifier in Botswana, Musoke also scoffed at a request to include EBB members on the Athens bound team.
Addressing the meeting UABF president Vincent Byarugaba challenged members to be sincere.

“Here was a situation where we were stuck. Government could only finance a trip for only one Olympic qualifier then a saviour came up,” the tough talking Byarugaba said.

Describing Ezra’s gesture as a miracle in boxing, the UABF boss added, “I think this is the best offer in boxing history.”
