RIO Insurance Company has given the Ugandan weightlifting team a huge boost with an offer of four air tickets for the Africa Olympic qualifier.

The team of seven handled by former Olympian Ali Kavuma is under a one month residential training at Lugogo.
The Rio offer leaves the team one ticket short of the required number, but with over $4,000 (sh7.7m) still outstanding for accommodation and participation fees.

Each of the seven athletes is required to pay a participation fee of $100 (sh0.19m) and full board accommodation of $60 (sh0.11m) per day in the Africa Championship due on May 1-7.
“We have good chances of qualifying in the meet,” Kavuma said after the trials on Sunday.
The contingent that includes All Africa Games bronze medallist Irene Ajambo is scheduled to depart for Tunis next Monday.

State minister of sports Oryem Okello was the first to aid the team with two tickets.
Other companies that aided the team in camp include Scandinavia Express, Property Masters, Star Photo Laboratories, Buziga Country Resort and Samona Products.
