Mbale LC5 chairman Bernard Mujasi has warned candidates aspiring for the municipality seat against dividing the people basing on tribal and religious differences.

During a press conference at his office recently, Mujasi said some of the candidates were trying to woo supporters using religious and tribal sentiments.

He said the people of Mbale belonged to different tribes and religions, adding that campaigning along those lines would lead to violence, which would disrupt the elections.

Mujasi asked the people to denounce candidates who tried to manipulate such differences while campaigning.

He urged them to vote for people who were capable, saying voting for those who were not capable would retard development in the area.

Mujasi also called upon the Movement candidates to reach a compromise and let one of them contest to avoid defeat from the multipartyists who have considerably high support in the area.
