Stanbic Bank has won this year’s ‘Best Bank Award in Uganda’ in a survey conducted, by the International Euromoney Magazine.

“There are several reasons for Standard Bank’s success. The strength of its position and the efficient operations in its key South African market gives it a better stand against competitors,” a document from Euromoney Magazine read.

According to a press release recently, the award acknowledges banks with outstanding performance.

The release said Standard Bank of South Africa which trades as Stanbic Bank in sub-Saharan Africa also won the Euromoney Excellency Award for best bank in South Africa, Namibia and Swaziland beating last year’s winner, Citigroup.

It said since February 2002 after the bank’s acquisition of Uganda Commercial Bank, Stanbic had upgraded its branches with the installation of AutoBank machines in Kampala and other towns.

Stanbic Bank’s Uganda director Kitili Mbathi said the award would motivate them to meet set targets this year.
