The agriculture minister, Dr Kisamba Mugerwa, has advised farmers to improve the quality of their farm produce to compete favourably on the national and international markets.

“Agriculture has become a business in which only efficient farmers will remain. Teach your farmers to adopt modern farming methods if they must succeed in this sector,” he told board members of Africa 2000 Network at White Horse Regency Hotel in Kabale recently.

Mugerwa said only those farmers who adopted modern methods would be competitive in the agricultural sector.

He advised the district to regulate and coordinate NGO activities to minimise duplication of services.

Mugerwa, who toured Africa 2000 Network projects in Bubare, Bukinda and Kaharo sub-counties, called upon the organisation to expand their activities to other areas.

The chairperson of the project board, Julius Zake, accompanied the minister.
