Busia town councillors have accused their speaker Godfrey Benesa and Sola Zone A councillor Patrick Kenyatta of tricking them into signing a petition of no-confidence in the LC3 chairman, Michael Mugeni.
Twelve out of the 18 councillors have sought guidance from the Busia Grade One magistrate on how to withdraw their signatures.
They said the two lied to them that they were soliciting signatures to invite the mayor to address them on the controversial extension of some two tenders.
“My colleagues and I didn’t know that these two were asking for our signatures to attach to a petition. If we had known, we wouldn’t have put our signatures on that paper,†said the vice-chairman.
