Jinja town passes 4.5b/- budget

JINJA Municipal Council has passed a sh4.5b budget for the 2004/5 financial year.

Presenting the budget estimates during a council meeting at the council chambers on Friday, the acting secretary for finance, Janet Kyemba, said the council anticipated to raise sh1.3b from the divisions, while sh3.4b would be raised from donations and Government grants.

Kyemba said council would spend sh883m on developing roads and improving health sector, among others.

She called for new measures to mobilise revenue to enable delivery of quality services.
The mayor, David Wakudumira, thanked the council for a job well done.

He called for teamwork, commitment and accountability.
