Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) delegates will soon be served with a notice proposing a constitutional amendment stretching the executive’s term from three to four years.

FUFA secretary Haruna Mawanda yesterday admitted there is a move to extend the term but said it is part of an ongoing constitutional process that began three years ago.

Insiders say the extension is a tactical move to keep presidential aspirant Michael Okiror at bay.

FUFA is unsure of its strength amongst delegates after realising that Okiror has been on a serious countrywide mobilisation drive.

Okiror, believed to be the man who bankrolled the 1998 campaign that propped Denis Obua to power, fell out with the ex-international shortly after Twaha Kakaire was ousted.
