A PEASANT farmer in Gulu district has been sentenced to one year in jail for keeping rebel leader Joseph Kony’s goats. Gulu officer-in-charge of criminal investigations Vincent Ouma on Tuesday said the Chief Magistrate’s Court had jailed Okello Lumonyo Ajaga, a UPDF veteran, for aiding and abetting Kony and his fighters.

IDPs resettled

IN a bid to reduce fire outbreak in Pabbo camp, 20,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have been relocated to two newly-established camps within Pabbo sub-county in Kilak county, Gulu district. The LC3 chairman of Pabbo sub-county, Christopher Ojera, said the IDPs would be relocated to Jeng-gari and Onang camps to provide for adequate space, better security and good sanitation.

COURT Martial chairman Lt. Gen. Elly Tumwine has instructed the State to issue summons to witnesses in a ghost soldiers’ case against Lt. Col. David Karuhanga, the operations and training chief. Tumwine issued the instructions after the prosecutor, Sam Sserwanga, informed the court that an investigation into the allegations against Karuhanga had been closed.

Nine charged

A MAN was on Wednesday produced in court for allegedly collaborating with the Allied Democratic Forces rebels.
Asuman Abacha, a businessman on Wanyama Road Bugembe in Jinja, was charged with treason together with nine others before Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Suzan Kanyange and remanded in Kirinya Prison.
