President Yoweri Museveni has won an award for his commitment to the health of children.

The Commitment to Children Award from Elizabeth Glaser Paediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), recognised Museveni’s efforts to stop the spread of HIV/Aids and providing hope to children affected by the pandemic.

Museveni will receive the award on Monday at Speke resort Munyoyo, a statement said yesterday.

EGPAF created the award in 1997 to honour outstanding individuals who have taken significant steps towards advancing children’s health.

EGPAF has worked closely with Museveni and the health ministry since 2000, with the launch of its “Call to Action” project to prevent mother-to child transmission of HIV.

It supports 62 health care sites that provide health services with funding from the United States Agency for International Development.
