FIRE erupted in Mukono town on Monday, burning several shops on the Kampala-Jinja highway.

FIRE erupted in Mukono town on Monday, burning several shops on the Kampala-Jinja highway.
The cause of the 10:00pm fire was yet to be established, but unconfirmed reports attribute it to an electric short circuit.
Last month, two shops were burnt in Seeta town, about five kilometres away.
Residents rushed to the scene to put out the fire. One shop owner wailed as she witnessed her goods go up in flames.
Residents managed to control the fire from spreading to the nearby shops.
The Police cordoned off the area as they waited for fire fighters to arrive.
They also battled to contain looters.
