CITY tycoon Hussein Basajjabalaba has asked President Yoweri Museveni to investigate corruption in the education ministry

CITY tycoon Hussein Basajjabalaba has asked President Yoweri Museveni to investigate corruption in the education ministry, reports Kyomuhendo Muhanga.

He said the ministry officials “are a menace to education development.”

Basajjabalaba said the ministry refused to license his Kampala International University yet he said it had the required documents.

Museveni was in Bushenyi on Saturday to open the university’s western campus.

Museveni said it was sad that the ministry, which was supposed to support and guide private schools, was frustrating them. He pledged to investigate the matter.

Museveni hailed Basajjabalaba for starting the university and added that, “If this man (Basajjabalaba) stood for an election here, I am sure no one would refuse to give him votes.”

He urged the Mengo government to borrow a leaf from Basajjabalaba, instead of using sectarianism to undermine national development.

“Basajjabalaba is a Muganda but he is bringing services close to the people in western Uganda,” he said.

Buganda has been demanding a federal status and that Kampala city be under the Mengo government.
