UIA seeks sh2.3b

Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) is looking for sh2.3b for investment promotion, facilitation, land development and information and communication technology infrastructure, Joel Byaruhanga, the director of administration and finance, has said.

Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) is looking for sh2.3b for investment promotion, facilitation, land development and information and communication technology infrastructure, Joel Byaruhanga, the director of administration and finance, has said.
Byaruhanga said sh621m would be used to develop five pieces of land to be allocated to investors.
He said sh316m would be used to establish a computer assembling plant, while sh229.6m would set up an information and communication technology incubation centre. ICT equipment will cost sh91m, while operational costs would be sh100m.
Other costs are sh341,797,400 for investment facilitation and advocacy including regional cooperation programmes estimated to cost sh85m and investment promotion, which would cost sh532m.
Byaruhanga said they had secured a grant of $28m.
