SIR— I wish to draw attention to the story, “New rides for Wavah, Chameleoneâ€, on your style page by Timothy Bukumunhe last Saturday.
I found it strange that Bukumunhe put the price of the Benz SLK200 launched by Spear Motors on November 21 at almost sh300m. This model is not anywhere close to that amount.
The truth is that an ordinary SLK200 goes for not more than $55,000. However, the SLK200 launched at the official opening of the showroom in Nakawa is slightly more expensive. This is due to extra features like a navigation screen and AMG rims.
Spear Motors did the additions specifically for promotion.
But even these extras, which bring this particular model to almost $90,000 (about sh165m), do not bring the price anywhere close to Bukumunhe’s sh300m!
Bukumunhe should do good research before writing.
