Displaced people’s (IDPs) camps in Acholi should be dismantled and the residents sent back home, the visiting catholic bishops have said.
They said people should start developing themselves, since security had improved.
Speaking on Mega FM radio on Thursday, the clergy said the Acholi needed to start rebuilding their culture and moral values.
“We shall soon lose basic human values in this region, and this is worrying,” the Bishop of Lugazi Diocese, Matthias Ssekamanya, said.
The bishops said they supported peaceful efforts aimed at ending the war.
The bishops decried the suffering the children went through, especially those who have to go to the towns at night to sleep.
They hailed the Red Cross and the World Food Programme for persevering even in the hard times and providing for the war victims.
