THE draw for the CECAFA Kagame Clubs Championship has failed to take place because there is confusion over who hosts the event.

Tanzania is expected to host the tournament but after her failure to send a delegate to the CECAFA Council meeting and update the council on the progress of preparations, has forced the regional body to think otherwise.

Information available said that the council decided to change the hosts but all countries, Uganda inclusive, putting in consideration the current performance of their clubs, decided to shy away.

This left an uphill task for CECAFA wondering why Tanzania refused to send a delegate and their willingness to host the tournament, most especially after being given free tickets to Ethiopia.

“We are having a problem. Tanzania, though requested to host the tournament, has not told us their position. We are waiting for their reasons,” said a CECAFA official.

CECAFA secretary Nicholas Musonye has been promising that the draw would be held soon though not confirming any date.

“We are still finalising something small. I am sure the draw will be out in the evening,” he said on Saturday, but until yesterday, nothing had come out yet.
He presumed confidence of Tanzania as hosts.

“It is Tanzania to host the tournament. We will inform you if there is any change.”
