A CLEAN-up campaign organised to reduce the litter generated from polythene bags is underway.

the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) spokesperson, Goretti Masadde, on Tuesday said the contest would take place between December 24 to January 2.

She said UWEC’s aim was to reduce the amount of polythene wastes lying around homes.

Masadde said the campaign would contribute to the awareness on the proper disposal of polythene being promoted by environmental bodies.

“In the contest, patrons will be required to present empty used polythene bags and fill in a simple questionnaire in relation to the exercise,’’ she said.

the winner will get sh100,000, the second sh80,000 and the third will walk away with sh60,000.
