UPDF told not to interfere

KAPCHORWA Resident District Commissioner Tezira Jamwa has told the Uganda Peoples Defence Force (UPDF) soldiers not to interfere with the LC5 elections.

By Rashid MuzungyoKAPCHORWA Resident District Commissioner Tezira Jamwa has told the Uganda Peoples Defence Force (UPDF) soldiers not to interfere with the LC5 elections.Jamwa, who chairs the district security committee, also banned soldiers hailing from the district from conducting illegal movements into the district during the elections. She said all soldiers coming home must have valid movement permits.She was responding to complaints by residents in Siron over illegal movements and harassment they are subjected to by some UPDF officials during election periods. Jamwa said the district security officials have received reports alleging that some UPDF officials have been distributing guns to their friends and relatives to harass and kill innocent civilians over political wrangles.“We have information about our sons who come and distribute illegal guns. This time they must show us their movement permits,” Jamwa said.
