Mengo told to set up political think tank

Baganda in Europe have advised the Mengo establishment to set up a political think tank that will critically analyse the politics in Uganda, to help forge a way forward.

By Josephine Maseruka Baganda in Europe have advised the Mengo establishment to set up a political think tank that will critically analyse the politics in Uganda, to help forge a way forward.They also resolved to set up a company through which shares would be bought to acquire land in the kingdom through the Buganda Land Board.They made the recommendations recently when they met Chrysestom Muyingo, the Buganda minister for education and sports.Briefing the press over the weekend on his 15-day trip to Europe, Muyingo said Baganda in Europe were impressed by the kingdom’s 10-year development strategy and pledged total support for its implementation.He was invited by the Baganda in Sweden, Germany and the United Kingdom to market the kingdom’s 10-year development drive.Muyingo explained that Baganda in the diaspora were closely following the political developments in the country and were keen on knowing the kingdom’s stand on contentious issues like land and federo. They expressed their concern at the manner in which the Baganda were selling off their land so as to reduce poverty.
