Bakoko Commends Women Lawyers

The Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Zoe Bakoko-Bakoru, has commended FIDA (U) for supplementing her ministry in providing services to the community, reports Edith Kimuli.

The Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Zoe Bakoko-Bakoru, has commended FIDA (U) for supplementing her ministry in providing services to the community, reports Edith Kimuli.Bakoko was speaking during a charity walk organised by women lawyers as part of the FIDA week activities to raise funds for the association’s activities.Bakoko said FIDA helps government in addressing the plight of under-privileged children and women.The walk, which was flagged off by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, is one of the week-long activities to raise funds, create legal awareness and provide legal services to the communities.The activities will include a children’s fun day, legal clinics to markets, a play “The parasite” and a dinner dance where President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be guest of honour.Kadaga said 15 years ago, they were operating in the Attorney General’s chambers and that the first charity walk they held started from there to the parliamentary gardens where they had a soda.She commended fellow Ugandan women lawyers for the job they are doing and expressed happiness that FIDA has got its own home.Ends
