THE American Ambassador, Mr. Martin Brennan, last Saturday launched the Katagata water measuring device worth sh10m in Bubaare sub-county in Kabale district.

THE American Ambassador, Mr. Martin Brennan, last Saturday launched the Katagata water measuring device worth sh10m in Bubaare sub-county in Kabale district.Darious Magara reports that the equipment funded by the American government will help to preserve the environment by stopping soil erosion and improve on the quality and quantity of the water.Brennan who was accompanied by the USAID director, Dawn Liberi, pledged to co-operate with the Government of Uganda especially in supporting development programs.“If we take care of ‘mother nature’, the environment, then we would have taken care of our own selves. Land must be preserved if we must live on it,” Brennan said.He appealed to residents to plant medicinal and fruit trees which would conserve the environment and provide them with nutritious fruits.The Bubare LC3 chairman, Jimmy Musiime, said the USAID-funded Afrena project, which will implement the water project started in 1998.Afrena team leader David Siriri said the project aims at helping farmers develop appropriate farming methods.
